What will the first homeopathy visit be like?

Your initial constitutional homeopathic evaluation will last approximately 2 to 3 hours. Although this is much longer than a typical visit to the doctor, Dr. Parker needs all of that time to completely understand how you function in the world, how you respond to stress, and who you are both psychologically and physiologically. Many patients report that they have never had someone listen to them so carefully and understand them so fully.

After the initial visit, Dr. Parker carefully studies your case and everything discussed in the visit, in order to get to the root of your problem. She will choose a constitutional homeopathic remedy specifically for you from the thousands of remedies available. The remedy targets the underlying imbalance that creates your symptoms, so that healing can occur at the deepest levels. Depending on your situation, she may also recommend other treatments, such as NAET, herbs, nutrients, dietary/lifestyle changes, craniosacral therapy, counseling, or hypnotherapy.

What will the first NAET allergy elimination visit be like?

Your initial visit will last approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours. During this visit, Dr. Parker will collect information about your current and past health, and your family history. She will give you a packet which explains the guidelines for NAET treatments. You will also receive an initial treatment to balance your immune system before beginning the NAET basic series. Dr. Parker will also test you for several allergens at the first visit.

After the visit, you will begin the NAET basic allergen series. People with allergies of any kind have immune systems that are out of balance.  Often the immune system is not getting the nutrients it needs because your body reacts against these very nutrients.  The NAET basic series will strengthen, balance and nourish your immune system, by eliminating reactions to the nutrients necessary for the optimal functioning to the immune system. Patients typically have marked improvement in symptoms after the NAET basic series.  Typically, patients come in once or twice a week during NAET treatment. Depending on your situation, Dr. Parker may also recommend other treatments, such as homeopathy, herbs, nutrients, dietary/lifestyle changes, craniosacral therapy, counseling, or hypnotherapy.

How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis focuses your attention so completely that your ego’s ability to interfere with your awareness is profoundly limited. The ego—with all of its limiting beliefs and mistaken assumptions—is safely and temporarily set aside, which gives you the freedom to communicate directly with your subconscious mind, where all sorts of wonderful resources reside.

For example, you might want to use your subconscious mind to help you neutralize any of your limiting beliefs, uncomfortable emotions, or unwanted habits. All of the information and abilities that you need to rid yourself of those beliefs, emotions, or habits are right there in your subconscious mind. A good hypnotherapist can help you free yourself, making you feel lighter, happier, and full of possibility!

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes, hypnosis is completely safe and effective. Doctors, scientists, psychologists, and psychiatrists all use hypnosis. For over 200 years, hypnosis has been used with millions of people, and there has not been one case of anyone being harmed in any way by hypnosis—not one case!

Nevertheless, to make hypnosis seem more dramatic and exciting, television, movies, and stage hypnotists often portray hypnosis as an unstoppable power that can force people to act against their wills or reveal private information. The reality, however, is that you remain completely in control throughout the hypnosis session. You are aware of everything the hypnotherapist says and are free to accept or reject any suggestions that the hypnotherapist makes. You can keep any secrets that you want to keep. In fact, a hypnotherapist cannot control you in the least. All the hypnotherapist can do is skillfully guide you on a journey of self-exploration and self-healing.

Hypnosis was recognized by the British Medical Association in 1955 and by the American Medical Association in 1958 as a safe and legitimate approach to resolving medical and psychological issues. In 1960, the American Psychological Association endorsed hypnosis as a branch of psychology.

Furthermore, unlike many healing modalities, hypnosis is non-invasive and has no harmful side effects. It is a healthy and natural way of empowering yourself!

What does hypnosis feel like?

Have you ever been completely engrossed in a good book, an exciting movie, or a vivid daydream? Have you ever gone on autopilot while driving? Just like these activities, hypnosis is characterized by a willingness to accept what you are experiencing and a willingness to keep your attention focused in a relaxed and comfortable manner.

It can be a wonderfully pleasurable experience. The muscles are relaxed, the nagging voice of the critical mind is quiet, and often there is a sense of wholeness and tranquility. The need to analyze yourself and your life circumstances gently fades away. You settle comfortably into a pleasant state of mental and physical relaxation, as if you were about to fall asleep. Although you feel more connected with the sensations and emotions of your subconscious mind, you also remain aware of your surroundings and the voice of your hypnotherapist. You are even expected to communicate with the hypnotherapist during the session.

After people emerge from hypnosis, they feel relaxed and refreshed, as if waking from a short nap. Furthermore, they will remember everything that occurred during the hypnotherapy session.

Is it possible to get stuck in hypnosis?

No, of course not! You remain completely in control throughout the entire session. You can stand up, open your eyes, and leave the office anytime you wish. If you heard a fire alarm during hypnosis, you would open your eyes and leave the building without the hypnotherapist having to say a word.

The myth of being able to “get stuck” in hypnosis was created when stage hypnotists would occasionally experience people who entered hypnosis and remained in the hypnotic state even after the hypnotist asked them to open their eyes and leave the stage. The audience, thinking these people were permanently hypnotized, would become terrified as they got carried off the stage. It was very bad for the stage hypnotist’s business.

Dave Elman—a famous teacher and hypnotist who trained thousands of doctors, dentists, and psychologists in the use of hypnotism—experienced this phenomenon many times during his career. After these supposedly “stuck” people finallyemerged themselves from hypnosis, he asked them why they refused to do so when requested. Their answer was always the same: It felt so good and so blissful to be in that deep state of relaxed and focused attention that they simply wanted to savor it a little while longer! They refused to comply with the hypnotist’s instructions. The only way that Elman could persuade them to leave the trance on his cue was by threatening never to hypnotize them again.

As this anecdote readily proves, clients are always in control of themselves during hypnosis.

Can I be hypnotized?

Anyone who can follow instructions and possesses at least normal intelligence can experience hypnosis. In fact, everyone does experience it every day to varying degrees: while reading, watching a movie, daydreaming, falling asleep, or becoming totally absorbed in an activity. Artists during moments of inspired creativity are often in a state of hypnosis.

There is no need to worry. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, which means that the hypnotherapist is simply guiding you through a process of relaxation to help you focus your attention. To experience this level of relaxation and attention, all you need is willingness. It’s that simple. Be curious and open-minded. Take delight in learning how to access the wonderful resources within your own mind!

How many hypnotherapy sessions do I need?

Although it depends on the nature and complexity of your goals, most issues require from four to six 1.5-hour sessions to achieve deep and longlasting healing. Typically, more than six sessions are not necessary.

My goal is to help you establish lifelong resources for continued mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. I am wholeheartedly committed to this goal. Hypnotherapy can help you change your life for the better by giving you access to the transformative power of the subconscious mind.
